Things to note before we get on with the swatches:
- I went to two different M·A·C stores the day this collection came out (March 20): 1) a counter at Macy*s and 2) a freestanding store. The closest one to me is a counter, not a freestanding store, and since I was in a hurry because I had errands to do, I went there first. They ran out of Melrose Mood already, so I didn’t get to swatch it. By the time I went to the second store, it was nighttime (in fact, they were about to close), so there was no point in swatching it [or the other stuff I didn't get to swatch at the first store] and taking a picture of it with bad lighting.
- I didn’t get to swatch the other stuff in the collection because at the Macy*s M·A·C counter, two MAs were hounding me and would not leave me alone. I had one in front of me and one to the right of me, both trying to get me to buy everything when I just wanted to be left alone to swatch and decide. “Are you sure you don’t want to get this? I’m just looking out for you in case we run out.” Yes, I’m sure. If you guys run out anyway, it’s not like I can’t get it online or at another store. There’s at least seven stores within 25 minutes of me, so I know where to find something if you run out of it. And don’t tell me they ran out online already (yes, she told me that!). They were just temporarily out of stock. That does not mean it’s gone. It just means it’s…well, duh, temporarily out of stock, not sold out. Also, I do not like being stared at, especially when one of them who works at a make-up store, mind you, was not even wearing any visible make-up. I’m sorry, aren’t you supposed to be representing the store you’re working for? Sigh. That incident reminded me why I hardly ever set foot in that specific M·A·C. I would rather drive 10 extra minutes to the freestanding store. I’m not trying to be a bitch here, I understand their job is to sell, but you shouldn’t keep pushing, especially when the customer has already told you what she wants to get. I think I was there for 10 minutes tops. I could not wait to get out of there because I felt like I was being suffocated.
Okay, I had to get all that out, so I’m sorry. Now, if you still want to go on, please do.

Review:
PACKAGING - When I first saw the packaging before the collection officially launched, I thought it was pretty tacky, but I don’t think it is now. Well, maybe it still is and maybe it just grew on me. I actually like the packaging a lot, it’s so flashy and so…PINK that I can’t help but like it. Also, for those who complained about Fafi packaging because they were full of stickers, well, Heatherette packaging is not like that at all.
LIPSTICKS - I tried on all the lipsticks and this is what I found. Fleshpot looks like concealer on your lips (my boyfriend said it looked like I was ill). Melrose Mood, which, surprisingly, is already sold out on the website, looks like a thick pink milky substance on your lips (okay, actually to be more frank, it me look like a porn star; part of the reason is because it’s an amplified creme, if it were a satin finish or maybe even lustre, it would look more appealing). Like the other lipsticks in this collection, not everyone can pull this off. Lollipop Loving was very sheer on me, but glittery. I wanted more of a color payoff than a glitter payoff, but I got the latter. Hollywood Nights was very sexy, though. I loved it immediately. It’s a really great hot (imagine Paris Hilton saying, “That’s hot”) fuchsia pink color. In my opinion: Fleshpot and Melrose Mood are better suited for very fair-skinned girls, the former working best for those whose lips aren’t so pigmented, Lollipop Loving is good for anyone whose lips aren’t pigmented either, and Hollywood Nights works better on fair-skinned folks.
LIPGLASSES - Like the lipsticks, I also tried all these on. I pretty much loved ‘em all, except for Bonus Beat, which was very sheer on my pigmented lips. As you can tell from the swatches, you could hardly see it on the back of my hand. It’s also pretty neutral and nothing too exciting, so I passed on it (eventually). Sock Hop, a coral, on the other hand, was really nice. I love that it’s a cream finish. Style Minx is bright and it is gorgeous. It’s going to perfectly complement Hollywood Nights lipstick. Starlet Kiss was a very pretty pastel/baby pink that was better suited for me than its complementary lipstick color, Melrose Mood. What I said about the lipsticks is almost similar to my opinion on the lipglasses (Bonus Beat with Fleshpot, Lollipop Loving with Sock Hop, Hollywood Nights with Style Minx, and Melrose Mood with Starlet Kiss), but I think that if people don’t like any of the lipsticks, they should at least check out the lipglasses instead because they might find it’ll work better for them.
TRIOS 1 and 2 - Cute packaging, but both equally disappointing to me for the reason that these colors look like colors I already own. Trio 1 was the better of the two for me, at least, because I’ve found that M·A·C purples (featured in Trio 2) aren’t the greatest out there. Cloudburst, which was the dark color in Trio 1 is pretty when you look at it; it’s greyish-black with teal shimmer, but when you actually swatch it, you can’t even see the shimmer anymore. For those who don’t own a lot of eye shadows, these trios would be nice to have, though.
DUAL EDGE EYE PENCILS - I bought only one of these, but if it weren’t kohl (which has a tendency to smudge), I would’ve bought all four. They’re great because you get two colors in one, which you can wear alone or together, plus they’re pretty pigmented. If you look at those swatches, each eyeliner was only swiped once without a heavy hand. I really liked all of them, but had to pick Black Funk/Pop Blue because I actually don’t own a black eyeliner from M·A·C, so this is like a two-for-one deal for me. Still, if you don’t mind the kohl, I would suggest getting them, or at least one of them. Nighthawk/Front Row is pretty neutral since it’s brown and peach, while Fab Orchid/Dash Lily and Phone Me/Text Me are great if you like color.
GLITTER and PIGMENTS - Both of the glitters, Reflects Gold and 3D Silver, were really, really pretty. Too bad they’re not eye-safe. They’d definitely be fun to play with, though, especially in costume-style make-up (these would’ve been fun with the mermaid-inspired look that I did). The pigments were equally pretty. Pink Pearl is like a duo-chrome. It applies fuchsia pink, but you could also see that it’s blue-ish purple in different angles. It’s a pro color, so even though it says limited edition, if you go to a pro store, they should have it. Jardin Aires, a repromote, is perfect for those who love neutrals. It’s peachy-gold with a smooth texture, not chunky at all.
NAIL LACQUERS - Lola Devine (not a misspelling, it’s really spelled that way) is a gorgeous coral color, perfect for spring and summer. It’s a creamy finish, no shimmer at all, but this would look great on everyone. $$$$$ Yes is just like the description: a metallic silver. To be honest, it can look tacky/trashy, so I wasn’t feeling that too much, plus I’m sure there’s a cheap dupe out there.
BEAUTY POWDERS - Again, cute packaging. These are different from the Iridescent Pressed Powders from the Fafi collection, which were less pigmented and better suited for highlighting, in my opinion. The Heatherette beauty powders would be better used as blushes. These were kind of disappointing, probably because the last time I liked a beauty powder was during the Barbie Loves M·A·C collection. The beauty powders in that collection blow these ones out of the water. Alpha Girl is pink with a hint of gold, but it was flat, no shimmer whatsoever, which is what I was hoping it would have, while Smooth Harmony was quite dark and bronze-y.
LASHES - Both were really pretty. If I could get one, I’d pick She’s Bad because they look very fun compared to She’s Good (hello, fishnet design). I don’t normally wear “funky” kinds of false eyelashes (especially ones with patent texture), though, plus they were $11 each, so I couldn’t justify purchasing any of them. I love the cheap Ardell ones too much.

do you know a dupe for MAC”s bonus beat lip glass? I know you didnt care for it too much but they aer sold out discontinued and I would like to get something identical in any brand as long as it looks like bonus beat over “myth” lipstick.
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
