My friend and I went to check out M·A·C’s Fafi collection at their pre-release party. The place was packed! The hors d’oeuvres were…interesting, haha, but it was fun. I didn’t get to have a cocktail, though. Ah, well. I would put up pictures of my purchases, but I didn’t buy much earlier. I’ll be getting more the day the collection comes out and I’ll post everything up then. Overall, I’m quite happy with Fafi. I liked more things than I thought I would, which is surprising, but good too (especially for M·A·C). The backs of my hands have swatches, but unfortunately they don’t photograph well, even with me messing with my camera settings. Sorry! I’ll be updating soon, though. ‘Til next time!
Edited 13 Feb 2008 to add: So my friend and I went back to our nearest freestanding M·A·C store for the actual launch date for Fafi. Since we came late, it had already been out for several hours. I swatched everything a second time, so I could decide what else I should buy from the collection. I had already grabbed Perky and Cash Flow paint pots on Sunday and I bought both blushes (Hipness and Fashion Frenzy), Fun ‘N’ Sexy lipstick, and the Ermine doll online. In addition, I looked at Light Flush MSF (from the N Collection/Face), even though I pretty much decided I don’t like MSFs for myself. [It's been months since I bought anything from M·A·C that I don't even remember the last thing I bought. I passed up on the The Originals, which were ehh (I don't own Parrot either, I really don't get the hype; there I said it), and the N collection.]
I’ve finally realized I’m not an MSF girl (I only own one: Northern Light), nor do I like Iridescent Pressed Powders. I owned Belightful before it was re-released with Fafi and looking more and more at it recently, I don’t even know why I bought it in the first place. MSFs and IPPs, which are too glittery for a non-glitter lover like me (more so the latter than the former), fall in the category of “Things That Unfortunately Just Don’t Look Good or Show Up on Me.” [I'm NC25-30.] It’s sad, but at the same time, it means I saved money…sort of. :P I’m debating on whether to sell these or not. I think I’ve touched them about 3x.
Anyway, back story aside, today I got Utterly Frivolous and Flash-N-Dash lipsticks (Fafi), and Soft Ochre (N Collection/Colour) and Bare Study paint pots. I’m behind on Soft Ochre, but I liked it a lot and I had been meaning to get Bare Study for a while. I wanted Cult Fave, but it was already sold out (geez, you people are quick!), so then my friend and I walked to Macy*s and they, luckily, were not as busy (it was Wednesday after all); thus, I got my Cult Fave lipglass. Success! I was debating on getting Rollickin’ and Nice Vice. I couldn’t bring myself to go ga-ga over them, so I knew I should pass on them. Plus, Rollickin’ looks like a few eyeshadows I already own and somewhat like Otherworldly from the McQueen Collection. I think I’m good on my Fafi. No more shopping for make-up for a while. Pictures to come when lighting’s better. :)
